- Free, no sign-up
- Runs in your browser
- PNG and SVG
- Yours to use commercially
What this tool does
A text code opens nothing and goes nowhere. The phone displays the words and that is all, which makes it the only format here that is completely independent of the network, of your hosting, and of us continuing to exist.
At a glance
| Encodes | Plain text, shown exactly as typed. No link is opened |
|---|---|
| Best for | Serial numbers, asset tags, instructions, short notes on equipment |
| Cost | Free, no limits on how many you make |
| Sign-up | None. No account, no email address |
| You download | PNG (high resolution) and SVG (vector) |
| Where it runs | Entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded |
| Code type | Static — the content lives inside the image |
| Editable after printing | No. Change the content and you get a new code |
| Scan tracking | No. There is no server in the path to count a scan |
How it works
Enter your details
Type or paste the text the code should carry.
Style it, and keep it scannable
Pick colours, module and eye shapes, a gradient, a frame, or drop your logo in the middle. The preview updates as you type and the timing patterns stay square, which is what keeps it readable.
Download and print
Take a high-resolution PNG or a vector SVG. Free, no sign-up, no watermark, and the file is yours.
Good to know
- Capacity falls sharply as text grows. A sentence prints comfortably; a paragraph produces a code that needs to be large and well lit to read at all.
- Arabic and other non-Latin text costs roughly three times as many bytes per character as ASCII, so the same sentence makes a noticeably denser code.
- This is the format to reach for when the code must still work in twenty years, in a warehouse with no signal, with no company behind it.
- This is a static QR code: your content is encoded into the image itself, so nothing is stored on our servers and the code never expires — but its destination is fixed once you print it.
- Everything runs in your browser. What you type is never uploaded, which is also why there are no scan statistics on these codes: there is no server in the path to count anything.
Need an editable, trackable QR?
A dynamic Qrindo code keeps the same printed image but lets you re-point it any time and tracks every scan, geo, device, and live.
Frequently asked questions
How much text fits in one QR code?
The theoretical ceiling is about 4,296 characters, but that is a symbol far too dense to print or scan in practice. Treat 300 characters as the comfortable limit for anything physical.
Does a text QR code work without internet?
Completely. The words are inside the image, so the phone reads them from the picture and shows them. Nothing is fetched, which is why this format is used for asset tags in places with no signal.
Can I hide or password-protect the text?
No. A QR code is an encoding, not encryption — anyone with any scanner reads it. If the content must be private, put a link to a protected page in the code instead of the content itself.
What does a text QR code actually do when scanned?
It shows the text. That is all — no app opens, no page loads, nothing is looked up. Most phone cameras display the string and offer to copy or search it.
How much text fits in one QR code?
A few thousand characters in theory, but long before that the code becomes too dense to scan at a sensible printed size. Keep it under a couple of hundred characters if it is going on paper.
Can I use it for Arabic or emoji?
Yes. The text is stored as UTF-8, so Arabic, emoji and any other script survive intact. They do take more space than plain ASCII, so the code gets denser faster.
