Frequently asked questions
Are the codes from these tools static or dynamic?
Static. The tool encodes your content directly into the image and nothing is stored on a server, so the code works forever and needs no account — but its destination is fixed the moment you print it. Changing where it points means generating a new code and reprinting.
Do the free tools upload what I type to a server?
No. The code is drawn in your browser, so a WiFi password or a phone number never leaves the device. That is also why there is no scan tracking on these codes: there is no server in the path to count anything.
When should I use a dynamic code instead of one of these?
Whenever the code goes on something you cannot cheaply reprint, or whenever you want to know how often it is scanned. Menus, packaging, vehicle stickers and signage are the usual cases. Anything disposable — a one-off slide, a temporary WiFi card — is fine as a static code.
