What this tool does
The password is encoded into the image, which is the part worth understanding: anyone who can photograph the printed code can read the password out of it. That is fine for a guest network on a table tent and wrong for the network your point-of-sale terminal is on.

Good to know
- Use your guest network, not the one your business devices are on. The password is readable by anyone who scans, or photographs, the code.
- The SSID is case-sensitive and must match exactly, spaces included. A trailing space is the single most common reason a WiFi QR silently fails.
- Tick "hidden network" only if the network genuinely does not broadcast its name; ticking it otherwise makes some Android phones fail to connect.
- This is a static QR code: your content is encoded into the image itself, so nothing is stored on our servers and the code never expires — but its destination is fixed once you print it.
- Everything runs in your browser. What you type is never uploaded, which is also why there are no scan statistics on these codes: there is no server in the path to count anything.

Frequently asked questions
Is my WiFi password safe in a QR code?
It is safe from us — the code is generated in your browser and the password never reaches our servers. It is not secret from anyone who sees the printed code, because the password is inside the image. Print it for a guest network only.
Which phones can join WiFi from a QR code?
iPhone on iOS 11 and later, and Android 10 and later, connect straight from the camera. Older Android needs a scanner app. Nothing needs to be installed on a modern phone.
What if I change the WiFi password?
The printed code stops working and has to be regenerated and reprinted, because the old password is baked into the image. If you rotate the guest password on a schedule, print the card on something you do not mind replacing.
Why does my WiFi QR code not connect?
Almost always the network name. It is case-sensitive and must match exactly, and a trailing space is invisible in the field but fatal in the code. After that, check the security type: picking WPA for an open network, or the reverse, fails silently on most phones.
Do I need an app to scan a WiFi QR code?
No. The built-in camera on any current iPhone or Android phone recognises the WiFi format and offers to join. Older Android phones may need the QR reader in the settings app instead of the camera.
Can I change the password without reprinting the code?
Not with this one. The password is inside the printed image, so a new password means a new code. If the sign is expensive to replace, point a dynamic code at a page that shows the current credentials instead.
